Deltas
Deltas, like estuaries, are landforms created when rivers meet the ocean. Unlike estuaries, deltas form in shallower, more tectonically stable regions, where sediment is allowed to deposit and accumulate at the mouth of the river. This creates a formation much like an alluvial fan, where the stream is allowed to spread out, but deposition of sediment causes a back and forth migration of that stream over the landscape, creating a fan-shaped feature.
